Death - by natural causes? NOT!

Be glad you don't live in Steger, Illinois! Steger? Has anyone around here even ever heard of Steger, Illinois? Steger is 35 miles south of the Chicago Loop and, get this, 4 square miles in size. And 9,400 people!

The Associated Press (AP) reported this week-end that a 90-year-old man died. Not too strange. Ninety-year-old men die every day.

This one, though, was tied in a chair with duct tape and a dog leash!

What does Steger Police Chief Richard Stultz say about this? The man died of natural causes.

Good going, Chief. Keep it simple. Case closed. The chief said the deceased had cancer and dementia. And the family was loving and not abusive. Right, Chief.

But the Cook County Medical Examiner's office is calling it a homicide and listed the causes of death as dehydration and elder abuse. Somebody in Cook County is paying attention and doing things right.

Stick around Steger after you retire, Chief. If you end up with cancer and dementia, your loving relatives will know how to take care of you.
