Do you have a basement, attic or closets full of old stuff that you’d like to give away? Old, but usable clothing? Appliances? Furniture? When I say “give”, I mean give away – not sell? Stuff you would almost pay someone to take away?
Check out www.freecycle.org This is a nationwide effort to keep junk (errr, your stuff) out of the landfills. From their website: “The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,271 groups with 4,597,000 members across the globe.”
Got an old TV to give away? An old deskjet printer? Even an older laser printer? How about a computer monitor? Bicycles? Books? You name it.
You can list your free stuff on that website and just wait for the emails to roll in from people who want it.
After you list your stuff, those who are interested will email you. When you’ve got an interested taker, then you can mark your posting as “Promised”, which will slow or stop further responses. You arrange by email for the person to pick it up. After it is picked up, you mark your posting as “Taken.”
And you can list items wanted. If someone has what you are looking for, they’ll email you.
Very simple and very local. Go to www.freecycle.org and enter your City, State; then choose the website on which you wish to list your stuff.
