Deceased couple identified

The couple found deceased in their home west of Island Lake on Saturday one week ago were identified to me this afternoon by a caller from Chicago. On December 31 Walter and Lydia Dillendorf were found in their home. The initial report raises no question about the deaths being other than from natural causes.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department and the McHenry County Coroner have withheld the identities. The sheriff's department has not responded to requests, and the Coroner's Office has refused information, citing ongoing investigation.

Today's caller, who identified the couple as Mr. and Mrs. Dillendorf, said he had been a long-time friend and that he was shocked at the delay in learning of their deaths. No obituaries have appeared in the Northwest Herald, and no funeral or memorial services have been announced.
