In a Letter to the Editor of the Northwest Herald today, author Steve Stanek of McHenry comments on Cyndi Wyss' January 6th column about the new Drain-O law, in which Cyndi apparently wrote that Rep. Jack Franks told her that "he wished he had heard from constituents before the law passed."
Give me a break!
How are we supposed to hear about it? Who has time to monitor the hundreds, if not thousands, of bills introduced by legislators each year?
Jack abandoned his website (www.jackfranks.org) a few years ago, after his controversial support to violate Federal law regarding the illegal importation of prescription drugs from Canada drew attention to it.
Why is it that Jack doesn't maintain a website other than his political candidacy-supported one, where you have to scroll all the way to the bottom and read the fine print to learn that that one is his election website, not his official website as a legislator.
How simple it would be to maintain an official website and tell us what he has up his sleeve. For example, he could have written, "I, Jack Franks, don't trust the people of Illinois to buy Drain-O and so I am supporting a bill that will require you to furnish a Photo ID card every time your toilet is stopped up. Should this bill pass and become law?"
Or he could have sent an email to his constituents, asking the same question.
So, now, will he support repeal of this stupid law?
Thanks, Mr. Stanek, for your letter.
