Beth Bentley - now gone 85 weeks!!!

Nothing has happened in the past week to find Beth? Well, not exactly.

A little turnover in the Detective Division at the Woodstock Police Department is taking place. It may be the routine re-organization and rotation that take place periodically, although I'm not sure myself about the wisdom of transferring officers from the Detective Division back to the street, just to give someone else a crack at detective work. Thousands of dollars have probably been invested in specialized courses for detectives. To send them back to the street may upset their networks of contacts and informants and interrupt activity on any live cases.

On the other hand, it may be that fresh faces above detective badges may bring renewed attention and fresh skills to Beth's case. Perhaps the Woodstock Police Department will be able to discard its monthly boilerplate report to the City Manager and inform city leaders of some actual activity on this case.

On another note, I came across this posting from back in August 2011. I wonder if Angela Montgomery really wrote it, Or did some impostor create it and post it to Jennifer Madera Sarracino?

"Dear Jennifer:

"I need to ask your consideration of something. You are a member of a page called "Mystery of Beth Bentley Missing".

"This page is run by unknown administrators, none of which are from the Bentley/Velmont family.

"The administrators of this page have made unfounded accusations about Beth's sons, family and friends, including the most recent one that 'they haven't done enough to find Beth'.

"When Beth's son, Jeremy, tried to respond to this accusation by posting what the family has done and what they have gone through the administrators blocked him. Yes, they blocked Beth's own son.

"I ask that you consider leaving this page and not supporting their continued lies, rumors, accusations and bullying.

"I appreciate your time,

"Angela Montgomery (please report this page asap as it has nothing to do with the family's efforts in finding Beth they even blocked Beth's own son)"

If Beth's being missing for 85 weeks weren't so serious, I'd be sitting here enjoying a good laugh. Who could be so presumptuous as to write to a stranger and ask them to "leave" any certain Facebook page. Facebook is social media - open to all.

What do you suppose Angela's "need" is all about? Wouldn't it be nice if all of Beth's friends, acquaintances, drinking buddies, the "posse" and her family starting making a serious, new effort to find out what happened to Beth?

My guess is that there are at least six people in Woodstock who know exactly what happened to her. The danger for them, of course, is that, if they speak up now, the police are going to want to know why they kept quiet so long. And saying "I was afraid" isn't going to cut it.

They are all hunkering down, hoping questions will dry up and the world will just forget about Beth Bentley. Well, sorry, folks; that just is not going to happen. A woman has been missing since May 23, 2010.

If she were your wife, mother, sister or daughter, what would you be doing? I doubt you'd be sitting around, wishing people would stop asking questions.

Absolutely Gus!!! If any of my family "went missing" I would be doing everything in my power to keep this front and center of any media vessel that I could. That is what I don't get with this case. The husband might consider doing less elbow bending and more jaw moving!!! JMO
