It's Mother's Day 2011 and Week 50 that Beth Bentley has been missing.
Whoever would have guessed last year that Beth would still be missing when May rolled around.
Tomorrow night is the monthly Coffee with the Chief of the Woodstock (Ill.) Police Department. What if every mother in Woodstock showed up and asked questions about what is being done to find Beth?
The coffee meeting (yes, there really is coffee) is at 7:00PM on Monday, May 9, at police headquarters in Woodstock. That's at 656 Lake Avenue, about 1/2 mile west of Route 47.
At a previous meeting there was a scheduled "program" to inform residents about something or another, but the size of the crowd and its purpose in being there resulted in a change of program. No disrespect is meant to the Lidar folks (department or otherwise), but residents may prefer to ask questions about topics of immediate interest to them, such as The Missing Person of the Year, Beth Bentley.
Questions might include:
Why is this still "just" a missing person case?
What evidence has been found that causes the Police Department to believe that no foul play is involved and that she just took off?
Isn't the absence of cell phone, bank card use and family contact starting to look like foul play is involved?
What are the ongoing efforts of the detectives to find Beth?
Are close friends, business associates, drinking and traveling buddies to be re-interviewed?
Have rumors about relationships and health been explored?
If this is a missing person case (and not a criminal case), are files now open? If not, when will they be open?
Is the Illinois State Police actively involved in the investigation now?
Has the FBI been asked to look at this case? Beth's husband thought she was going to Wisconsin with Jenn Wyatt. Maybe she did and the whole story about southern Illinois is a lie.
50 long weeks. Too long!
