... at least, in Michigan.
Think a state's child protection services division can't march right into your life and snatch your kids from right under your nose? For no wrong-doing on your part?
Links to the story do not work, so go to www.parentalrights.org and look for the May 10th article, One Mistake and Goodbye Kids. You also might want to consider signing the petition on their site.
Could this happen in Illinois? In McHenry County? In Woodstock?
I am contacted on a regularly basis by parents who finds themselves duking it out with DCFS and a few of the employees there who are exceeding their lawful duties and creating fear and hardship among parents. When managers learn what's going on, they stop it. But, if they don't know about it, they can't stop it.
Know your rights. Someone once said, "If you don't know your rights, you don't have any."

I know for a fact that the DCFS right here in Woodstock have a real hard time doing their job. We know of a family on Tryon Street that not only should have had their 7 year old girl removed (like her 3 brothers before her)but after literally dozens of reports from not only the school principal, cops, neighbors and family, that girl is still in the home. The so called mother is drug and alcohol crazy and the Dad is not much better. The Mom tries to commit suicide on a weekly basis. The cops are at the home weekly also. What will it take to help this poor 7 year girl? Maybe she should live in Michigan!!! Then this kid would have a chance. Really sad.
Wow Debra, that really is sad. I can't believe DCFS hasn't removed those poor children. I have known of two families in my past that should not have the children that they do in their home. It's ridiculous, some of these parents make me sick to my stomach...
