The McHenry County State's Attorney's office announced today that a Spring Grove driver was convicted of aggravated reckless driving today. The press release stated that Adam Grazier was convicted by Judge Sharon Prather in a bench trial.
The press release reported that Grazier failed to stop at a stop sign while traveling at an estimated 70-80MPH and struck a car, causing near-fatal injuries to its driver.
According to a Northwest Herald article on January 5, 2007, Grazier, then age 17, was southbound on Kemmon Road, south of Hebron, on September 13 (must have been 2006), when he failed to stop at Thayer Road. The driver of the car hit by Grazier was Richard D. Hangleitner, then 64, of Harvard.
Grazier's first court date after being cited was January 11, 2007.
Today is October 16, 2009. Don't you just wonder what has happened in TWO YEARS AND NINE MONTHS of legal wrangling??? And why do you suppose it took four months to charge him in the first place?
The press release from the SAO today also indicates that Grazier was cited again after that ticket, also for failing to stop at a stop sign.
Looks like there is a kid who just isn't learning.
