Sixty-eight weeks ago Beth Bentley vanished.
If you had disappeared without a trace 68 weeks ago, would you want a lot of people looking hard for you? Would you expect your party buddies to be looking for you? Your co-workers? Your family?
What would you want them to do? Pester the local media frequently for constant reminders to the public that you are still gone? Employ the philosophy that it's the squeaking wheel that gets the oil? Talk to everyone, all the time, about the fact that you are still missing?
But what if you weren't "missing"? What if some (that's plural) knew exactly where you are. Would you want them to break down? To give up the information?
After 68 weeks, I suspect that few still think that Beth Bentley is "missing".
Which of the close friends knows what happened to Beth? How many know? What if the most concerned of the immediately family members made a list of the top 50 people who might know what happened to her and then sat down with each one? Stare them in the eye. Hold your questions. And, when they start to squirm, then ask them, "What do you really know about what happened to Beth?"

I personally don't know any of Beth Bentley's family, or her friends.
Week 68, and not one of them have stepped up to say what they know.
In a "missing persons" case, less is not more. If there's information that might lead to answers and justice, this information is being withheld.
I read the papers, any mention of Beth Bentley simply doesn't exist.
Why? Nothing new on the case? The very fact that she's still missing IS NEWS. Reporters aren't interested? Run a weekly ad. Do something!!!!
I say this tounge in cheek, but perhaps she slipped into Witness Protection from something she learned at the law firm. I knew an attorney years ago that just fell off the face of the earth, and all efforts to find her were pretty "lame". It wasn't until 15 or so years later that she reappeared as if nothing had happened.
Thanks, MBlue. Several months ago I believe Beth's eldest son made an off-hand remark on Facebook about the Witness Protection Program.
Nothing should be ruled out. If that line of thinking is followed, then what could have transpired at the law office that would put Beth in such danger?
And what about all the other employees? Who among them might have had similar knowledge? Or suspicions?

If that's true MBlue, why hasn't the lawfirm been investigated? If she's in the WPP, she would have had to given LE details of some crime she was aware of ...
As I said, it was "tounge in cheek". If the law firm or family or clients were being investigated, it wouldn't be a matter of public knowledge until an indictment was filed. So only time will tell.
So unfortunate and so very sad. I see People Magazine online covering Susan Powell's case and I always ask - why not Beth? I believe that media coverage often happens when police departments are forthcoming with information. More than I expect loved ones to contact the media, I expect the police to. Requesting the public's help and regular press releases concerning the case seem to be the norm in many cases, in many places. Why not Woodstock P.D. - why not Beth? I ask again and again!
By the way, I now see that you were thinking/asking similarly Gus, in a prior post dated Thursday, September 8, 2011 "Comparing Lauren Spierer to Beth Bentley".
