Six months ago I wrote an article about a fast mover in a Lexus with the license plate HOP HEAD.
Tonight a reader posted a comment to that article, and I'll print it here, too:
Thomas has left a new comment on your post "Does roadway come with Lexus?":
"Wow! I actually did a search on this license plate and came across your blog. The same guy came barreling down a residential street just as I was pulling out of a driveway. I had just looked left then right and left again and within two seconds he was riding his horn before I even made it on to the street. He must have been going about 60 in a 25 zone. Caught up to the same Lexus, same license, but could not get eye contact from him or the woman in the passenger side. Glad to see someone else has had the same type of issues. He'll wind up in court one day soon."
Thanks, Thomas!!!
When you see a particularly careless or reckless driver, inform the local police department. I find that email is a good way; let them sort it out inside. Faxes are good, too. A paper trail is better than a phone call to a dispatcher, unless you want an officer to stop that driver and you are willing to be a witness and go to court.
If anyone is interested in tips on how to be a good witness in court on a traffic complaint against a driver, let me know. I can tell you what you need to know and what to expect, both in court and from the police department you ask for help.
Another place to "report" drivers like HOP HEAD is at www.aboveaveragedriver.com Enter all the information you can, and go right ahead and make your candid comments on that site.
Who knows? Maybe one day cops and insurance companies will make widespread use of that information.

Here is is years later, but this menace is still a danger on the loose and on the streets. My motorcycle was parked on the street in Sawyer, Michigan on Friday, June 10, 2016, when a newer Lexus ES350 Sedan, white, knocked it over and took off. Witnesses reported the same Illinois "Hop Head" license plate on the suspect car, which was spotted a couple of hours later and towed as evidence by the local Chikaming Township police. We'll see if maybe justice will be served this time.
