Jesse Jackson's Non-Apology

Did you notice how Jesse Jackson really didn't apologize to Barak Obama for his remarks this week?

Without rehashing what he said or is alleged to have said, he took the chicken's way out and followed a pattern of many politicians, when he made the following statement, as quoted in the Chicago Tribune.

"If in this this (sic) thing that I've said in a hot mic statement that's interpreted as distraction, I offer apologies for that because I don't want to harm or hurt to come to this campaign."

This is no apology at all. Couching it in "If ... that's interpreted as distraction..." leaves it up to a person to first determine whether it was "distraction".

Is he sorry for what he said or sorry that he got caught at it?
