After a Spartanburg, S.C. woman was nearly raped in a park there, Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright declared, "Carry a concealed weapon. That'll fix it."
Wright was frustrated after a long-time criminal was back in jail one more time.
Wright also said, "Liberals call me and tell me the chain-gang form of justice isn't working. Well, let me inform you, your form of justice isn't working either."
Wright's advice is to carry a concealed weapon. In other words, be ready to protect yourself. And be ready to protect someone else.
A news article on www.wyff4.com included, "(Wright) said several times, 'I want you to get a concealed weapons permit.' "

I know that you'll probably spin this away but why do you choose to insinuate that somehow the sheriff of McHenry County is wrong because he would not advocate to crime victims that they should violate the law? CCW is legal in North Carolina, sadly, it's not in Illinois. You could have said "You won't hear this in Illinois" but instead you chose to make it McHenry County thus getting in one more of your incessant digs against Nygren. If you (or I) ever heard him utter that advice, we'd be on him like white on rice. You know, I know it and so does everyone else who follows your antics. Give it a rest. Just about every time you blog something you end up looking the fool. It's amusing but it's getting old... like you
Steve, thanks for your comment.
There is no insinuation that Sheriff Nygren does or should advocate any violation of the law. What he could do, is get out in front and advocate for a change in the law. And that, he does not do.
Sheriff Nygren is not in favor of concealed carry. Most of the chiefs of police around here are not in favor it.
What they could do is pull their heads out and realize that More Guns Mean Less Crime. John Lott says it; the figures support it. Forty-nine states can't be wrong.
Maybe cops should not be allowed to carry off duty. Maybe retired cops should not be allowed to carry concealed. Then see how quickly they jump sides and support concealed carry. (Many cops do support concealed carry already.)
