Watch that fax Send button

Records clerk Joann Reed of the St. Clair County (Ill.) Sheriff's Department had a learning experience recently, when she mistakenly faxed a message to the Belleville News-Democrat newspaper, instead of to the Centreville (lll.) village attorney.

It seems that a deputy's son had gotten a speeding ticket, and she was sending a message, hoping to "fix" the ticket.

Reed's handwritten note, sent with a three-page message, read, "Dismiss this case. The guy is the son of one of our deputies."

Who says that cops (and their families) don't sometimes get favors that the rest of us don't get?

Guess I'll be avoiding St. Clair County...
