Sometimes investigations are welcome; sometimes they are invited. At other times, those who might be targets of an investigation will throw up all manner of excuses, reasons and roadblocks. Stall, stall, stall...
At this point, maybe there might be a guessing game about who said, "__________ said he would welcome an investigation, just to settle the allegations that have been leveled ..."
Who might have said that?
a. Gary Pack
b. Lou Bianchi
c. Keith Nygren
d. Phil Pagano
e. Bill LeFew
On October 20, 2007, two Northwest Herald reporters wrote, "Law-enforcement agencies, such as the (Illinois) attorney general's office, have subpoena power and do not need permission nor cooperation from local elected officials to acquire records."
Another quote that might come back to haunt the same as-yet unidentified person (a, b, c, d, e?) is, "The only way the truth will come out is if there is an independent investigation by an outside, credible source that has jurisdiction. But certainly not the Chicago Crime Commission. They certainly have no business investigating anyone in the (McHenry County) state's attorney's office."
Would he broaden that to include the Sheriff's Department? Or the office of any elected official in McHenry County?
When I hear, "Oh, no, not the Chicago Crime Commission", then that's probably exactly the organization that ought to come in and start nosing around.

I'm thinking Bill LeFew said those words.
Close (but no cigar). Thanks for guessing. If there is a consolation prize, you'll be in the running.
