Dear Sheriff Nygren,
When you met with the Northwest Herald editorial board, you told them that you have been a law enforcement officer for "over 42 years." You also told them that you started in DeKalb County in 1971. From 1971 to 2009 is only 38 years.
Now your website says you started in DeKalb County in 1967.
The DeKalb County Sheriff believes you were a probation officer at some point between 1967-1971. The DeKalb County Court Services says it has no record of that.
Where did you work in law enforcement before you joined the Crystal Lake Police Department?
Where were your first four years of "law enforcement" experience? What did you do and where and when did you do it?
Did you ever work for the Addison Police Department?

Yeah Gus, please give us a year by year breakdown of your law enforcement experience. Please include all the special training you've acquired. OR better yet: Blow off my question, tell me the real race doesn't start until Feb 3rd, make it all about your likely opponent. Why not give this info? It's just a matter of typing it up right? I mean what does it matter if it's given on January 21st or February 3rd it's just your qualifications, it's just facts right?
Start your next "story" with: I'm running for this office and I have nothing to hide, here's my qualifications.
Braff, catch The Woodstock Independent this week (1/18/10), wait until after 2/3/10.
Why start a race early? There are many months to November 2.
The point is, I don't claim experience that I can't or won't prove. My math skills aren't all that bad, either.
Attention all voters, you must remember that if you vote for Sheriff Nygren, then you are voting for him for a half a term and the remainder of the termm for the present Undersheriff, Gene Lowrey, or another waiting in the wings.
That is always how it is done in McHenry County. If that is your wish, then fine. Marge Nygren is already set up in Florida; per the Sheriff. Obviously, he will hand the reins over as was done to him.
All voters need to know that the ballot does not tell the whole truth.
