P.O. - was he or wasn't he?

Was Keith Nygren a Probation Officer with DeKalb County Court Services at any time during the period 1967-1971?

In response to a FOIA Request this week, Deputy Director Margi Gilmour wrote, “Please be advised, there are no records of Mr. Nygren being employed at DeKalb County Court Services.”

The FOIA Request had asked for information about his past employment with that Department, for the possible period of 1967-1971. Nygren's employment as a probation officer in DeKalb County came in a FOIA response from DeKalb County Sheriff Roger Scott.

The wording of Ms. Gilmour’s response could be taken several ways, one of which could even be that he is not now so employed. But that clearly was not the question.

An employee of the Court Services Department told me that their records go back only ten years - by Statute! I was afraid to open that can of worms, and so I didn’t. So, what does “no records” mean?

Does it mean they have no records for that period (1967-1971)?

Or does it mean that they have records, but that there are no records of Nygren’s having been employed there?

Just where are the four years of “law enforcement” experience of Keith Nygren that make up his total of “over 42 years” of experience?

Perhaps he’ll place his employment history on his website and account for the “over 42 years” of law enforcement experience. He told the Northwest Herald that he started in DeKalb in 1971. There are still four years missing.
