Remember the fire on Sheila St. at the apartments there? And how many residents had to move out while the place was being cleaned up?
Now it appears that there may be an asbestos problem in that building. Recently there was a commercial truck outside with a sign on it about Asbestos and a warning to stay away from the truck.
And recently-returned residents are coughing in their apartments and smelling a strong odor of a chemical that they suspect is used in asbestos clean-up.
What does the McHenry County Health Department have to say? The Environmental section of the County's Health Department will send someone over to ask some pointed questions.
What does the State of Illinois EPA have to say? Haven't called them yet, but it probably wouldn't hurt to throw this problem on the desk at the IEPA, too.
Did the Woodstock Fire & Rescue crews notice any possibility of asbestos, when they were there?
