D-46 Board under fire

The Prairie Grove Elementary Library, 3223 Route 176, ought to be packed at 7:00PM today with parents who are concerned about actions of the school board to deal with issues out of the public view.

Today's article in the Northwest Herald www.nwherald.com/articles/2010/01/05/r_k440kkhqgws00k_zs7xla/index.xml describes the attempt by the school board to deal with general issues behind closed doors. The Open Meetings Act is very specific about what can be discussed in executive session, and D-46 isn't meeting the exemption.

OK, Prairie Grove parents. Will you be there? And don't forget the help available to you from the Public Access Counselor at the Office of the Illinois Attorney General.

Prairie Grove D46 school wants to move forward. Not possible yet.

Prairie Grove's D46 cannot look forward until those who flouted the law are in jail, not just walking away with a fat package.

D-46 school has been railroading taxpayers for decades, and its abuses have become bolder over the years. It's a blessing that Fasbender was ousted, but look at the way she treated not only the community but the teachers, stealing from them to enrich herself. Classic criminal who should be in jail.

But certain members of the school board have been abettors to these abuses, including at least one who is still in office and in fact "leads" the board. Things won't improve until all board members are folks who follow the law, and who refuse to follow leaders who abuse taxpayers.

It's not enough that everyone walks away unscathed. These matters are crimes against community taxpayers, and the miscreants should be tried, convicted, and jailed. The monies stolen from the people of the school district have not yet been totaled, but the amount is enormous.
