BearCats to McHenry County?

See this in Bossier Parish, La.
Is there any interest in McHenry County, at the County level or in any municipality or any other law enforcement agency (like the Conservation District or Parks Police), in acquiring military-grade assault vehicles? Drop by Bossier Parish, La. to see the vehicle in the upper photo. It's just a "short" 980 miles SSW of Woodstock.

At what point would law-abiding citizens have to fear that such equipment might be ordered into use against them?

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department has MARV. Has there ever been even one time that its use was warranted? Would any outcome have been the same, if MARV wasn't available in our county?
See this in McHenry County, Ill.

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." Never has this been truer. Look at what Mayor Rahm Emanuel is trying to push through on Illinois residents. Keep in mind; he is "only" the mayor of Chicago. He doesn't rule the State. Yet. Think he doesn't have a grand plan? Take a look at his puss the next time he is in the news. Think that's not the face of a man who would like to be King, Dictator, Ruler of Illinois? Personally, I don't care to be anywhere near him!

Just how much firepower should we put in the hands of our law-enforcement personnel. Unlimited?

Look what is happening in other countries, when dissidents rise up. Look at the awesome firepower used to quell uprisings.

Think back to Colonial Days. If the King had had more firepower, we wouldn't be the USA. If the People had had less firepower, we wouldn't be the USA.

"Enough" firepower must remain in the hands of the People (which is not Emanuel's plan). He wants to require gun registration, which is a logical step to gun confiscation. Right now, the government doesn't really know whether I own a gun and ammo or not. All it knows is that I have a FOID card. I'd prefer they didn't even know that.

How about if every person not disqualified by statute, applied for a FOID card? It's $10 for ten years. Get a card, even if you don't own a gun. Even if you think you might never want to own a gun. Why?

The day might come when you want to buy a gun. If you've already got the FOID card, you can waltz into your nearest gun shop and buy one. You might have to wait three days, but that's a lot better than having to wait 90 days for your FOID card.

Gus, my hope is that along the entire I10 corridor and along our entire southern boarder, we will soon have THOUSANDS of these vehicles, and we need to begin random Interstate Surveillance stops such as they do in Mexico..

Nobody in Gov. will admit be we are in a drug war, against highly trained killers.. Zetas as just one example.

They move freely at this time....Chicago is quickly becoming a large 'base of operations' or "Plaza" which is the proper term, for the cartels.

I understand that in our culture, Law Abiding citizen's will have fear and feel threatened by the very presence of such vehicles on our roadways....

I vividly recall my first encounter with M-16 armed soldiers standing on public streets in Mexico as just one example, then throughout S. America and Central America

So you might ask, "Have we come to this point?"

The answer is a resounding "Yes we have."

The underlying question Gus now is,"Do the Drug Cartel's have more 'Fire Power' than our police forces.

"YES!"

So, with that in mind, how else can we find balance using TODAY'S WORLD as it IS, not as it was back in the days of King's.

I understand your point and it has merit... I hope you might consider what I have added.

I have lived it and have seen it with my own eyes what is going on, that we are NOT being told on the Nightly News or Cable News Stations.

They rather talk about Politicians and personal B.S.....

Meanwhile, our friends from the South are slowly but surely killing off our treasure, here on our own streets.

The weapon, "Needles" and "Powders" and mixtures thereof.

I say give the police all the tools they have to protect the cops and bring SWAT situations to a quick close. These are great tools and have been used several times. Sometimes the appearance of an overwhelming piece of equipment encourages offenders to give up. Much like the sound of racking a round into a 12 ga pump while inside a building where a burglar is hiding. You make it sound like these vehicles are being used against the public at large. You are sounding more and more like an anarchist.

BTW didn’t see any comment on the Arapaho County CO Sheriff going to jail on numerous drug and prostitution charges. I thought they were squeaky clean out there….

CC, you and I will be able to agree on the use of necessary force. Using excessive or massive, overwhelming force against the public is exactly what I am afraid of. Look around the world, CC.

What stands between those situations and us? 1. The Constitution. 2. The fact that citizens are armed.

Why did you expect a comment here about retired Arapahoe County sheriff Pat Sullivan?

There is no time to comment on the alleged criminal activity of every suspected sheriff and law-enforcement officer in the U.S. (or even in just the places where I have lived). I can't even keep up with it here.

But I'll make time right now for a new situation.

Gus - if you purchased or transferred a gun through a licensed dealer, a Federal record, however "clunky" does exist.

Registration may eventually result in confiscation, but will certainly result in heavy taxation first.
