New address: IDOC

The following is a press release from the McHenry County State's Attorney:

Louis A. Bianchi, McHenry County State’s Attorney, announces today that Tania Cederholm, 35, of Woodstock, was sentenced to 8 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on one count of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Death (Class 2 Felony).

In the late evening hours of February 21, 2007, Tania Cederholm was driving her vehicle northbound on Dunham Rd.   At the intersection of Route 176 and Dunham, she entered into the intersection, pulling in front of an oncoming vehicle that was traveling eastbound and operated by David LeJune of Rockford.  Mr. LeJune’s vehicle thereafter spun into the lane of oncoming westbound traffic and was struck by a third vehicle.
Mr. LeJune later died due to the injuries he sustained.  Ms. Cederholm’s blood alcohol level was .246, more than three times the legal limit. She had two prior DUI violations.

Ms. Cederholm was taken into custody after the sentencing hearing.  She will be required to serve 85% of her prison sentence before being eligible for parole.  This case was investigated by Sgt. Karen Groves of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department, and was prosecuted by Phil Hiscock and Ryan Blackney of the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Let's see: 85% of 8 years means she'll have 2,482 days in prison to ponder the result of her drinking and driving.

Other charges in her case were nolle prossed, and she was fined $1,563 in fines, fees and costs. She was defended by the McHenry County Public Defender's Office.

Watch it out there, folks. Not only at night, but during the day. Just last week, right in Woodstock during daylight, a driver ran a stop sign right in front of me. I was on a through street and was able to brake in time to avoid ramming the right side of his car. Extra luck for me, since I was on my motorcycle. I turned and followed him, watching him run 4-5 more stop signs before going out of sight.
