The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for parts of Indiana and Ilinois, including McHenry County, for Sunday.
At-risk groups should restrict activities and stay indoors.
From the NWS:
1. TAKE PUBLIC TRANSIT... RIDESHARE, WALK OR BIKE.
2. IF DRIVING CONSOLIDATE ERRANDS AND RUN THEM AFTER 7 PM.
3. SWITCH TO COMPACT FLUORESCENT LIGHT BULBS.
4. SET YOUR THERMOSTAT UP AT LEAST 2 DEGREES.
5. TURN OFF AND UNPLUG ELECTRONICS.
6. USE ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HOUSEHOLD AND CLEANING PRODUCTS.
7. USE A CHARCOAL CHIMNEY OR GAS GRILL INSTEAD OF LIGHTER FLUID.
8. AVOID USING GASOLINE-POWERED EQUIPMENT ON ACTION DAYS.
9. DO NOT BURN LEAVES AND OTHER YARD WASTE.
