Who is part of the "slow food" movement?

I knew about fast food but, until today, I didn't know about the "slow food" movement. Dr. Jim Kearns, of Northwest Healthcare at 800 South Street, Woodstock, sponsored an afternoon talk by Leslie Cook of Expressly Leslie Cafe in the Woodstock Square Mall.

Leslie gave a very interesting and informal talk about her journey into understanding the relationship between food and health. She introduced me to the phrase "slow food movement", meaning food with meaning; i.e., don't fix it fast - don't eat it fast.

She quoted one of the author's on the resource list she had brought for each person there: "Don't get your fuel from the same place your car does." You can view the books that Leslie likes at www.expresslyleslie.com/resources.html Check out her website for many interesting pages.

Drop by Expressly Leslie Cafe for lunch soon. It's in the Woodstock Square Mall at 110 South Johnson Street, right on the Square.

And, if you are struggling with pain, be sure to see Dr. Kearns. I met him in 1996, shortly after I moved to Woodstock. Check out www.painfree101.com/ and call him for an appointment. You'll be glad you did.
