Fords or Chevies

From a local reader. Any truth to this?

"Lowen has done it again.

"In case you haven't heard or seen.

"The squad cars are being switched over from Ford Crown Victorias to Chevy Impalas because the County has them and Woodstock wants to try them out.

"Think of this logic - if they're going to need dealership repair, the nearest dealership will be Gary Lang after Reichert's closes, which means having to travel over to McHenry with two vehicles to drop off and return back to Woodstock; or will Gary Lang provide pick up for the city.

"The PD should stay with Crown Victorias and use the local Ford dealership instead of the money for repairs and parts being spent elsewhere."

Comments, anyone? So much for "Buy Local." And don't forget the trip back to pick up the car after Gary Lang has worked on it!

It appears the PD is a monoarchy which is led by the the City of Woodstock oligarchy. This will never change until the taxpaying citizens of Woodstock start paying very close attention to how their city governmen is run.

Does anyone know what Gary Lang's relationship is with GM right now? If they wanted to stay with GM part of the new franchise agreement means they would have to get rid of Mitsubishi, Kia and I believe Subaru. They also should have lost Cadillac either way. The only way to keep the import lines would be to open up a new facility and move the import lines there. GM is not allowing their dealers to have competing car lines on the same lots anymore.

Forget the Chevys and da Fords. The bustling metropolis known as Woodstock should be able to provide their outstanding officers with Lexus or Benz. There would even be money left over to upgrade your Bug to a Mini Cooper... not the "S" model tho- too fast for you!

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines of the SmartCar...

For the first time in 2+ years I have edited a comment. Normally, I pass them or reject them. I removed the final sentence from the comment posted below.

The Madd Bulldog has left a new comment on your post "Fords or Chevies":

"Insurance too high on the SmartCar... heard that on the radio or TV; cuz there's not much material (metal/plastic) around one's body should you get hit by, say an 18-wheeler... (final sentence deleted)"

I feel honored! Are you a little put off or upset and my comment? You know it contained NO PROFANITY.
Anyway, I am not upset that you redacted it... maybe you now got a taste of how some of us feel about some, I said "some", not all, of your blog posts.
You sometimes provide a great public service, and sometimes ride to the edge... but just as many times you cross it. Unfortunately we cannot redact you.
