CIT deputies praised

Last night I had a two-hour conversation with a McHenry County resident and mother of children with mental illness. I was curious about her experience with deputies, when they had responded to calls at her home.

Her experience has been positive, and she had only good things to say. The deputies who have been at her home have had to be firm, but they have been firm with compassion and understanding. The CIT (Crisis Intervention Team)-trained deputies are doing their jobs well.

I've met several of them during mental health calls, and my experience, too, has been favorable.

Additional Crisis Intervention trainings are going to be arranged in McHenry County. Let's hope that the police departments and the sheriff's department will continue to send officers and deputies to these trainings and then have the newly-trained deputies share what they have learned with the other deputies and officers in their respective agencies.

Gus, post their names, there is no harm in publically acknowledging good work!!! Maybe they'll get commendations, boost morale a little.

Frank, you stated and I quoute "I've met several of them (MCSO CIT Officers) during mental health calls, and my experience, too, has been favorable." Good job to the MCSO guys however Philpot once again just told everyone a flat out lie. You don't live in MCSO juridstiction and WPD has CIT themselves. Therefore, you would have delt with WPD. How many times have you had these "mental health calls" where you happened to be in MCSO jurisdiction! I'm sick of your bs! On the other hand it is great to prove you wrong!
