Quinn, Emanuel responsible for gun deaths in Chicago?

Are Gov. Quinn and Mayor Emanuel responsible for gun deaths and injuries in Chicago?

The headline right now in the online copy of the Chicago Tribune is "Holiday violence toll includes boys, 5 and 7: 'It's just senseless'".

And the first paragraph in the story is, "With the long Fourth of July weekend not even half over, the toll from violence in Chicago stood at 8 dead and more than 30 wounded this morning, including two little boys, 5 and 7, seriously hurt while at parks with their families."

Will it take armed patrols in every neighborhood to restore safety and sanity to the streets of Chicago?

Quinn and others are worried about the Wild, Wild West, when Illinois has a concealed-carry law. What do they think exists right now?

What if law-abiding, FOID card-holding citizens were given firearms and bullets and trained how to use them? How long would it take the punks to learn that the people are going to take back their neighborhoods? Forty-eight hours, for the word to get around? Seventy-two hours?

Why not declare martial law for 72 hours to quiet down the streets in selected areas? Bring in Federal troops, the National Guard and the Illinois State Police. Enact concealed and open carry. Let pairs of citizens walk the streets around their homes and parks and businesses with handguns and rifles.

What happened in the Wild, Wild West? When townspeople got tired of being scared, they stood up and did something about the problem. Chicago is way, way past the time to retake their streets.

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia

This is still the law and this is how it use to be done. Using federal troops is a slippery slope.

Once again Gus, the National Guard or the ISP are not going to change a thing. You lack a basic understanding of the problem. These shootings are occurring because the thugs know that there are little accountablity if any for what they do. It is a life style, something that northwest suburbinites just do not understand. Plus, all these so called victims are not really victims at all. They are part of he gang culture/lifestyle themselves. Now I'm not referring to the small children like the seven year old of course but there parents, family or friends.
When the SYSTEM, the most corrupt system in the world allows the Police to be the Police be it the CPD,the ISP or any other department you care to mention, THEN and only then will this situation be controlled.

lets talk "Wild West" most everyone I know who uses this phrase has no real idea or historical knowledge of the real wild west...their knowledge and understanding comes from TV and Hollywood
................Fact................
Dodge City Kansas 1880 The heyday of the cattle drives 32 people were killed that...YEAR and most of them were not innocent civilians...
We would be safer in Dodge City on a Saturday Night..than in a park in Chicago on a Sunday afternoon

MLK, Jr. died 4/4/1968. I worked in the Loop at the time. I remember the Chicago PD out in force.

The point is, that when the "Thug" is faced with opposition he runs and hides... he doesn't want any part of being shot at...
I use this as a point of contention that is we had conceal carry, "Thuggery" would be minimized ...
