ANY guns/ammo in your house?

Do you have a FOID card? No?

Do you have any firearms or ammunition in your house? Any?

If you do have any, even 1-2-6 bullets, you'd better have a FOID card. Or get rid of the ammo. Same with any old firearms. Even inherited ones.

And, if you are approached by police (cops, deputies, troopers) and asked any questions about firearms or ammo., the very first question you should ask yourself is, "Why are they asking?"

Then you had better suspect they have a reason for asking. And that reason might just be because they are investigating a crime. Or a possible crime. And, yes, they are supposed to Mirandize you. But claiming they didn't, might just not work for you.

If the answer to your first question (to yourself) is "I don't know", then be respectful and tell the cops you'll be happy to answer any questions - after you talk to your lawyer. Then call your lawyer. Make the call out of the hearing of the cops.

And then shut up. Not a word. Not a peep. Remember that some cops are professional interrogators and they know how to worm an answer out of you. That's why it is so important to know your rights - before answering any questions. Your first right under Miranda is, "You have the right to remain silent."

If you don't know the rest of them, Google "Miranda".

You may think you haven't done anything illegal. You may think you can just "explain" it and the cops will go away. A lot of people in jail thought that.
