Are we becoming a nation of softies and wimps? If you listen to the "authorities", yes, we are.
Seattle bank teller Jim Nicholson didn't like it when a robber put a bag on the counter and demanded money. According to an Associated Press article, he threw the bag to the floor and chased the robber from the bank. He caught him after a short chase and with the aid of a passerby.
How did Key Bank thank him? They canned him. "Policy", don't you know?
"Seattle police Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said the best course for citizens is to be good witnesses to crimes." Right, Sergeant. A lot of good "He went thataway" would do. Nicholson caught him and saved the police and the FBI hours of work.
Nicholson gets the Hero badge! If I were a customer of Key Bank, I'd be in there at 9:00AM to close my account!
