More on Double-dipping

OK, ready for some details about double-dipping by elected officials? Those who hold more than one paid, elected position.

Information from Bob Anderson on Friday, who notes the source as the Chicago Sun-Times, reveals that Illinois State Senator William Peterson from Long Grove is paid $83,804 for his Senate duties and $90,000 as Vernon Township Supervisor.

Illinois State Senator Louis Viverito (Burbank) also pulls down $83,804 for his Senate position and another $69,697 for being Stickney Township Supervisor.

How about State Rep. Ed Sullivan, Jr. (R-Mundelein)? $77,027 from his House job and $66,408 for being Fremont Township Assessor.

Too far away? OK, how about closer to home, right here in McHenry County?

Marc Munaretto is the elected Clerk of Algonquin Township and elected member of the McHenry County Board (District 1)

Ersel Schuster is the elected Supervisor of Seneca Township and elected member of the McHenry County Board (District 6).

Bob lists the following possible conflicts of interest, when County Board Members hold more than one elected position or job:

Lobby board members not to certify petitions for ballot access to abolish township governments county-wide;
Promote referrals for admittance to Valley Hi Nursing Home;
Influence the distribution of Community Block Grant funds for the benefit of Township governments;
Interfere with the attendance of County Board meetings, in addition to committee meetings;
Interfere with attendance of standing committees and related agencies;
Interference with duties;
Board decisions can easily be affected and swayed by the political organizations within townships.

Stop by Bob’s Barbershop in Wonder Lake to sign the Petition. The shop is on Barnard Mill Road, just east of East Wonder Lake Road.
