Remember Jeffrey A. Cole? He's the guy who allegedly surprised a woman as he hid just outside her back door with a gun in his hand and a day later allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in the all-night laundromat on South Eastwood Drive.
Both cases are scheduled for trial on March 30, 2009 at 10:00AM in Room 302 at the McHenry County Courthouse. Will the trials happen that day?
They might. It is imperative for witnesses to show up for all court dates, even if it's just a status hearing. Being there ups the ante for the accused and his attorney, whether private or public defender; they know the witnesses are committed to seeing it through.
Witnesses often need strong support to hang in there and endure the "system". Sometimes there are numerous delays and continuances - some for good reason, others ... well, let's just say that it looks like stalling to me.
If you know someone whose testimony will be needed at trial, support them. Encourage them. Remind them that it is absolutely vital that they arrive in court, steady, ready to testify confidently as to what happened.
