Don Manzullo - A big bully

You've got to see this YouTube clip of Rep. Don Manzullo (R-Ill. 16th) playing the role of a big bully, just because he is a U.S. Congressman. In this clip Manzullo bullies Bailout Czar Neel Kashkari.

I would have spoken up to Manzullo and told him to flat Shut Up until I have finished answering the question that he asked me. Manzullo is nothing but a bully. And I would have walked out after telling him that I refuse to be bullied.

Everyone in Manzullo's district should watch this clip and then call Manzullo at 815-356-9800 and demand that he step aside. Or maybe take some anger management classes. When you call, beat up (verbally, I mean, and without threatening her, except maybe in the same style as Manzullo; if she can't take the heat, maybe she is not the person for the job) on his office worker and then ask the office worker how she likes being bullied.

Manzullo's behavior was just flat trashy.

I say, put Manzullo on the hot coals and ask him if he voted for the bail-out. Duhhhh, of course he did; right?

Manzullo was just beating his chest in front of the cameras and working up sound bytes for his next election campaign and franked mailings (that we pay for!).

Here's my email to Don Manzullo:

"Just watched your charade while you beat up Neel Kashkari. You were over the top. I voted Republican for 40 years until Bush II. You confirm my decision to abandon the GOP. You hit below the belt too many times. You are the one who isn't right for the job. Read www.WoodstockAdvocate.com"

You can email Manzullo on his www.house.gov website by tricking the webform. Just use the ZIP Code 60014-3426.

It appears from the comments noted under the video on YouTube, that alot of people disagree wish your opinion of Manzullo. I would agree that he was Grandstanding a bit. But I agree with the context in which he asked the question. People are worried about their jobs and a company that has received a bailout from the gov't gives a big bonus to an executive ? Come on !! Someone has to turn the screws. Apparently it would not be you; all you do bitch. Run Gus Run.

"Tirade" was probably the word I wanted; not charade. Just called Manzullo's Crystal Lake office. Pressed "11" and got a voicemail box for someone who is out March 2-3-4. So I called the Rockford office and left my rant there. That number is 815-394-1231, if you want a live person.

My upset is not about whether or not the AIG executive was worth a $3,000,000 bonus. Maybe his compensation package is $1.00/year and bonus based on performance. Maybe his job was to cut losses and maybe he did a superb job of it and earned $3,000,000 for doing so.

Manzullo's behavior was totally incorrect, improper, and a terrible example for anyone planning a career in government.

How much does Manzullo get paid? How much has he stored up in his campaign treasure chest? How much are his perks? How many junkets has he been on? Put him on the grill and let him roast a while and NOT be permitted to make any response past Yes or No.

Ok, now I have to get behind Gus. Clown Manzullo makes an attack, the gist of which is that somebody got a 3 million dollar bonus at a failed institution--then begs the question, "Wasn't that too much?"
Of course the guy from the fed says "We looked into some of these and they were promised salary incentives." That is an obligation of the organization. Now a baseball team might promise 10 million to a player, and finish last in the league. But that promise wasn't predicated on winning. You may argue that was a bad management decision, but it was still a promise. I am sure that if the bank promises to return your money from your savings account, whether they make money that year or not, you would hold them to that promise. Even if it were 3 million.
This was useless baiting by Clown Manzullo, and Gus called it right.
Clown could have said, why do we keep giving failed or failing institutions more money ... no argument there. But he picked someone who wouldn't yell back, good play Clown.

Again...Grandstanding.
Not productive, but the context was valid. Forget the 3 milliom dollars. AIG and Citi want BILLIONS MORE, and they're still losing money. When do WE ask OBAMA the same questions Manzullo asked and demand an answer (instead of reteoric).

Ahem...ok gentlemen...I will agree that Mr. Manzullo was acting out a bit, even a lot. However...do you know what he was so upset about? Please have a listen to the phone conversation Mr. Kashkari had with the heads of all those banks just the day before the vote for that first bail out bill. It available on YouTube and was also written about in the Wall Street Journal.

Here is the link on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynwtOJpO8Lg

Fairly amazing that there is only 285 views of this conversation. You have to listen to the whole thing...and I will admit it is full of static and electronic buzzing, but the proof is in the pudding. Mr. Kashkari essentially lets all the Big Bank leaders know that yes there is language in the bill that will limit the ability to obtain the bonuses, but in the end it will not be enforceable because in order to do so would require a vote from congress to overturn a veto by the president. Which I am sure you all know requires a two-thirds majority in both houses, which the administration felt would not be possible. So essentially Mr. Kashkari was assuring the banks that the treasury secretary would be able to pass out that money in anyway he (Paulson) saw fit...and he did...ie: that 3 million bonus.

Now Mr. Manzullo undoubtedly knew about this conversation and he was reacting to the fact that Mr. Kashkari was making these deals with the Banks...in what seems to be a very underhanded way. Listen to the phone call...then come back here and let us know how you would have handled questioning Mr. Kashkari. Mr. Manzullo was acting in the interest of his constituents...which is something more politicians should do.

I don't think Manzullo was out of line at all. I'll bet his constituents wouldn't have been as kind as he was.
