How are our officers trained?

As I drove to the hospital in Woodstock this morning, I recalled an afternoon in Colorado when I had stopped a woman motorist who had been driving erratically and fast. When I pulled her over, she was crying so hard that she couldn't talk clearly.

She explained that she was rushing to the bedside of a relative who was dying; I've forgotten what relative - that had to be back in about 1977. But I remember the stop and the exact location. I hadn't thought of it for quite a number of years.

I recall being firm with her about getting herself under control or she wouldn't ever make it to that bedside. She took some deep breaths and got herself under control, and I sent her on her way. I don't recall that I even asked her for her license.

And then tonight I received an email from a friend in Woodstock about a Dallas cop and a traffic stop he made on a family rushing to a hospital bedside. The sender's comment was, "MCSD is loaded with guys like this."

Gus, come on now.

You have got to be kidding me. To comment on the fact that some cop stopped a family and unknowingly prevented them from seeing their dying mother, then allow the title "MCSD are full of guys like this" is horrible and quite stupid. To label the numerous officers of the MCSD to one officers mistake is ignorant.

Dallas has THOUSANDS of officers. One of thousands is very disproportionate to what you allow these claims to be.

You really need to stop siding with anonymous idiots and a felon like seipler.

Again, you have some good points, but you are WAY off course on this one.

Were all the cops you worked with criminals and order breakers? I doubt it. Cut the majority of good cops some slack here. And please don't listen to seipler and his felonious ramblings, he is the criminal you should seek. There are probably some dirty cops in all departments. They are probably the ones faking IOD (injured on duty) claims so they screw the taxpayers out of money while they sit on their butts and write books. If you want to blow the whistle Gus, blow it on the cops milking fake injuries which in turn are writing you letters to demean a department they are screwing. I don't know how those officers could live with themselves. They are quite pathetic. Those are the ones truly screwing the system and you and I the TAXPAYERS.

One more thing, you say you stopped this woman and she was a poor soul that had to see a dying relative in the hospital. What if she was lying to you and she was revoked 10 times over and had a warrant out of the neighboring county for killing her children 10 hours before you stopped her? And to add to it, she was on her way to kill her mother at the hospital that she lied to you about when she told you her relative was dying. Your bleeding heart just let a child killer go, because you feel that the appropriate thing to do was to let her see her dying mother.

You just do not know what you have out there Gus. Please stop being so judgmental and open your eyes to reality.

Thanks,

IS

Well Gus, now they are pleading with you. "Please stop being so judgemental..." In response to the Coward known as Insanezeipler Spouting off the MCSD felony stuff AGAIN!! The following statements can be found in the Chicago Reporter Magazine "...in November, he was fired for, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren, violating rules and regulations." This is your boss's words. By slandering me you are not only committing a crime you are violating rules and regulations. I won't count on a investigation being conducted.
Only a deputy would know that I have been threatened this way before by Captain Cundiff through my union representative. Only a deputy would know that Under Sheriff Eugene Lowery already relayed to me that the Sheriff Keith Nygren was not pursuing criminal charges out of the "goodness of his heart." Yeah right. How many times do I have to be threatened. If everything I said is a lie, beat me in court and at arbitration and with the EEOC and the IDHR.
If you're not a deputy why would you care? Do you really believe everyone reading this believes you are not affiliated with the MCSD. I plead with you to keep writing though, it makes the documentation process that much easier.
You would think Nygren would tell Bruketta, Jones, Stevens, Patenaud or whoever to shut up already. Even after being fired I still have to worry about retaliation and scare tactics for exercising my 1st amendment rights. I am a citizen and the police are violating General Orders and ethical principles in order to intimidate me. These are Nygren's people. He is responsible. Real felonies are being committed by deputies on and off duty. It's being documented and recorded on this blog.

"Nygren said Seipler’s allegations are completely false. “I’ve been sued a lot [during] 42 years, [but] this is the worst..." -Chicago Reader.
It's the worst because someone finally said enough is enough. I'm thankful that the people sending Gus information have said enough is enough too.

Keep printing the nonsense Gus, it makes my job easier.

I do not believe this issue (the one in the post, not the ranting and raving in the comments) is a question of "training". Every department I've ever been affiliated with has it's fair share of jackasses. Not all cops become cops because they have a genuine desire to serve the public. And it's no secret that when police are constantly bombarded with the scum of society, coupled with being the authority, some of them let it get the better of them and they develop a sense of entitlement and a really bad attitude. It happens and it happens EVERYWHERE. Is it fair to blanket MCSD with the last quote in the post? Of course not. It is just another bullsh!t jab at the SO by someone with an axe to grind.
And Zane? Really, dude. I am not a deputy with MCSD and I do not know the details of your case, but seriously, you're not winning any points with the way you're presenting yourself. Let it go already.

I will say this again, the vast majority of deputies that work at MCSD are good cops. They know how things work in that department and they know the truth when they hear it. I am confident that when the depositions start the truth will come out. I would also again like to thank all the deputies and correction officers that are giving Gus and I all the up to date information. Things didn't have to be this way and with your help they can be better.

This is for Lt. Miller. I always liked you John. When the time comes, remember everything we talked about in all those meetings. Think to yourself, if this goes bad who will take the fall?

It never had to be this way. I don't even blame the idiots who were trying to raise their stats in order to impress Cundiff. Anton, you should have just done as I asked. You should have told them to "knock it off". That's all I said, remember? You have no one to blame but yourself and your ego. Real leaders inspire they don't terrify. You never scared me. I've dealt with bullies before, knock them on their ass they have a hard time coming back.

Listen people, if it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, common sense says it's a duck. You don't have to be a 100% sure a cop is crooked. These guys and gals aren't supercops that can just exceed you because they are so superior. Probable Cause is about 51%. You've all made arrests with less evidence than I've collected over the last 2 years. It's time to protect the people, it's time to protec youselves.

I hope this wins me some points with the people that matter. The good ones.

This is why I love videotapes. PERIOD. Then we don't have any discussions about what happened ... we just cue the tape, baby!
