HB0997 sponsors stuck at 48

With only 57 days to go until Illinois must have a concealed carry law, the list of co-sponsors of the best bill on the docket is stuck at 48. The number hasn't changed since February 26, when Rep. David Harris signed on.

McHenry County State Representatives Wheeler, McSweeney and Tryon are on board.

Some think that Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan will wait until the 11th hour to file an appeal to the U.S.7th Circuit Court of Appeals decision on December 11 that Illinois must enact a concealed carry bill within 180 days.

Others think that the period within which an appeal must be filed has passed.

So far, the Illinois State Rifle Association and the NRA have not informed members what they think.

Concealed carry will definitely be dangerous - for the criminal element.

It will make streets safer for law-abiding citizens. What is the legislature waiting for?
