From a busy blog about the mess in Island Lake comes this:
Impersonation of a Police Officer
"Saturday
morning, April 6, 2013, Island Lake residents received a recorded phone
message from 847-552-6632 (HSBC Holdings) which in summary.... states
that he was an Island Lake police officer and that Charles Amrich has
been indicted and may be knocking on doors to campaign for the mayoral
election. It goes on to say that they should call the Island Lake police
to have him removed from the property. It closes that this message is
paid for by the Island Lake police calls against corruption.
"When the Island Lake police department was called they denied having any knowledge of the call and took the information from all who received the call.
"If you have received this call and object please go to the township (Nunda or Wauconda) in which you live to vote early today. After voting, then you can go to the Island Lake Police Department to report the criminal incident."
For a little town (well, okay; "village") of 8,000 folks, things sure are a mess over there. There were ongoing attempts to keep Amrich off the ballot, but his campaign succeeded in preventing the local politics from keeping him off the ballot.
What will happen on Tuesday?
Don't forget to vote on Tuesday, April 9, That's this Tuesday!
