Want a squad car for YOUR driveway?

Recently a reader inquired whether I still had a photo of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department marked squad car parked (stored) at the home of Brian Goode, president of RITA Corp. in Crystal Lake. Goode, as you must know by this time, is a long-time member of the Sheriff's Department Merit Commission and high-dollar contributor to the political campaigns of Sheriff Nygren.

Sure enough. On December 20, 2010, there sat a fully-marked, operational squad car in Goode's driveway. This was just 20 days after Sheriff Nygren was re-elected as Sheriff (by only 53% of the vote), having beat out Mike Mahon and me in the 2010 General Election.

Did all Merit Commission members get squad cars for their driveways?

Just how does a resident in McHenry County qualify? Does it just take a phone call? Is there a waiting list? Do you make your request to Nygren or Zinke?

What do you suppose was the law-enforcement purpose of parking a County asset in the driveway of a taxpayer's home?

Let it be known that I don't fault Mr. Goode for having the squad car there. Anyone can ask for anything. However, the official of the Sheriff's Department who approved the assignment of that squad car deserves some scrutiny.

Ever consider the possibility because it is known that cartels had previously tried to piggy back on 3rd party carriers headed to RITA that some protection may have been granted a cooperating witness? There may be some big surprises in store as more info comes out.

Mind you neither the previous occurrence or current occurrence would be public yet had not Koziol outed the investigation publicly.

You're right. Such an indiscretion (or worse, if it's a crime) would be swept right under the McHenry County Rug.

Lot of bumps in that rug...

Curious1 is drinking the Nygren Zinke Kool-Aid. Or is it to protect someone from more devious endeavors?

Koziol outted the DEA? How about Zinke ratted out the DEA?

Many suspect that Curious1 is the Zinke mouthpiece, ready to swallow the Nygren-Zinke political rhetoric and then regurgitate their comedy act back via the blogs. This is just too comical. Why then didn't the DEA then just go right to him and bypass Koziol? If they had a cooperating person at Rita, why would they ask questions about shipments?

I'm sure the cartels will be tricked by the decoy squad snowed into the curb.

The DEA's stance on this is not yet publicly known. If the investigation is ongoing and the DEA and the Sheriff's Dept are still working together on this is not something Koziol would be in the position to know as he has been removed from the investigation. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out why Koziol is not going through the DEA as the appropriate agency here. This isn't about the DEA being wronged it is all about local political posturing. Just why does the local tin foil hat crowd think the DEA is so helpless in their own investigation?

The political posturing was when your boy Andy Zinke called Goode and spilled his guts. I'll be the very "curuous1" to see how soon after the little discussion with Zinke and Zinke calling Goode that Koziol got the boot. That seems to be the real political posturing. Actually I hope the Fed's are working behind the scenes and drop a Federal indictment on Zinke.

How long after Pyle was arrested by the ISP did the Fed's drop their little surprise on him?

I've already heard on the street that NOBODY will share info with the MCSO now that this hit the news. Sadly I bet Bianchi will deflect this and kick it down the road. The one that suffers is John Koziol, a truely honest man.
