Jim Harrison for Sheriff, McHenry County

I had the opportunity to visit with Jim Harrison today about his plans to be a candidate for the Republican Party's nomination for Sheriff of McHenry County.

Jim is a lawyer in Woodstock and is a former deputy in the McHenry County Sheriff's Department in the 1990s. Following an on-duty automobile accident when he was responding to a reported accident with injuries (Jim was running up Route 23 at night and topped a hill to find a herd of deer in the roadway), he went to law school and changed careers.

In addition to his law practice which has a heavy emphasis on employment law, he teaches Constitutional Law at The John Marshall Law School in Chicago.

Jim's campaign is organizing and will become active after the first of the year.

Watch for more news in January and into 2013.

Very sharp guy with a keen legal mind. He was a hard working deputy and is now considered an expert in labor law. Expect to see the shark attacks. If they are digging for dirt on him they will come up with a dry hole. New to politics and no baggage. Refreshing.

Gus, do you think the anti-Nygren/anti-Zinke/anti-incumbent voters will be split by Prim and Harrison, therefore, allowing Zinke to win?
Zinke will probably win the funding and name recognition race.

Hmmm, or will they face each other in a primary first?
What parties do each of the three candidates belong to?

If Zinke stays in the race, then Harrison and Prim will challenge him in the Republican Primary in 2014. Zinke is not a shoe-in with these two in the race against him.

Zinke's "baggage" with his Nygren tie may be too heavy.

Even looking at the last election, Nygren only got 53% of the vote. That certainly was no landslide.

At this point I see Zinke as coming in third, but I have no guess as to #1.
