Will (can?) Nygren vote?

Tuesday is Election Day in McHenry County. To be able to vote in this election, you must be registered. If you move before Election Day, you must re-register more than 30 days before the election.

What if you move within 30 days of the election?

You may qualify to vote, if you meet certain requirements, such as moving within the same precinct.

When Keith Nygren finally (about March 12-13?) vacated the Hebron house which he sold on December 3, he definitely "moved". And moved out of the precinct. Some have been wondering whether he moved to another property in McHenry County, since he is required to live in McHenry County to hold the office of sheriff.

As of today, Keith Nygren no longer shows up the online voting registration records of the Illinois State Board of Elections. Previously, his registration was listed for the house in Hebron (ZIP Code 60034). Now it's not there for 60034. And it's not there for either Crystal Lake ZIP Code 60014 or 60012.

Now, this is not to say that he didn't re-register at some McHenry County address, but you are supposed to register where you actually live.

If yesterday's rumor that Nygren will retire soon and turn the reins over to the Undersheriff is true, then maybe Nygren didn't re-register. Is County Board Koehler working on a short list of candidates for appointment to Sheriff? The replacement has to be a Republican, and he (or she) will serve until December 1, 2012. There will be an election on November 6, 2012 for Sheriff, to fill the remaining two years.

I've continue to wonder ... if Nygren had no legal residence in McHenry County since December 3, 2010, has the County been without a sheriff? And should the County demand its $12,000/month pay back?
