Thanks to Cal Skinner's McHenry County Blog, I learned this afternoon that the Illinois House of Representatives passed HB 3500, a bill to protect the identity of FOID cardholders.
At IGOLD on March 10th I learned that it had been an Associated Press reporter who had originally filed a FOIA request for the names of holders of Illinois Firearm Owner's Identification (FOID) cards. The Illinois State Police denied the FOIA request, but then the Public Access Counselor in the Illinois Attorney General's office over-rode the denial.
Thanks to Jack Franks and Mike Tryon for being among the 98 Representatives to vote for HB 3500, which you can read at http://www.ilga.gov/ The bill now goes to the Illinois Senate.
And a BIG thanks to McHenry County Blog. Read the entire article here: http://mchenrycountyblog.com/2011/04/08/illinois-house-moves-to-overturn-lisa-madigan-foia-ruling-on-gunowners-names/
