Two suspects arrested

If you are confused about arrests for crimes committed in the 500 block of East Calhoun Street in Woodstock on November 17-18, join the crowd.

In the December 9 edition (yesterday) of the weekly Woodstock Independent, you would have thought that all three suspects had been taken into custody. It appeared that Joshua R. Ury 22, was residing in the "big hotel" at 2200 North Seminary and that Brian J. Adams, 39, and Kenneth L. Nolting, 36, had each posted $100 bonds and had checked out.

However, I had read previously that Adams and Nolting were on the lam. I wondered aloud why photos of them had not been published by local papers, so that John Q. Public might assist local law enforcement officers in spotting them.

In this morning's Northwest Herald is an article that reports the capture of both Adams and Nolting this week.

Nolting was arrested during a traffic stop on Monday in Indiana.

Adams was arrested yesterday morning at the Wonder Lake home of Nolting by a team of McHenry County deputies and a U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Apprehension Team, according to the NWH article. Ury's mother was arrested for aiding and shielding a fugitive and obstruction of justice.

A press release dated late yesterday on a Woodstock Police Department webpage indicates that Nolting was on the Top 10 Wanted list of the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. You can view the Top 10 at www.mchenrycountyil.gov/departments/sheriff/Pages/MostWanted.aspx

Perhaps in the future local newspapers will publish mugshots of suspects. Why not? Tips from the public might result in much sooner apprehension.
