Surge in vandalism in October

Should Woodstock residents be concerned about the surge in vandalism in the month of October?

During the first nine months of 2009, Woodstock Police officers took reports on $65,328 worth of vandalized property in Woodstock. That's an average of $7,258/month. The range was from $2,820 (February) to $10,973 (September).

In October the amount of vandalized property jumped to $27,725, bringing the year-to-date (YTD) total for ten months to $93,053.

Am I the only one who wonders about the nature of vandalism in Woodstock, what types are occurring, and how many arrests are being made for vandalism?

At the same time there was a sharp decrease in Stolen Property. In October "only" $17,187 was reported stolen to police.

The high in 2009 for stolen property was $152,019 (February); other high months in 2009 were $65,021; $54,308; $40,306.
The low in 2009 for stolen property was $7,585 (March).
The ten-month total in 2009 for stolen property in Woodstock is $387,106.

The 2009 YTD total for recovered property is $47,309.
