Come to think of it - you might be able to watch the County Board meeting on your TV. It seems like I got a message a while back that County Board meetings are broadcast. Are they? Maybe on a Comcast public service channel? (I don't know, since I don't watch TV.)
For your Tuesday night entertainment, you might just want to show up at the 7:00PM County Board meeting at 667 Ware Rd., Woodstock. This will be this Tuesday, May 21.
Everybody is mad at everybody. Will the County Mounties be called in to keep order? Frankly, if they are there, they belong outside in the hallway or downstairs, unless or until they are needed to restore or maintain order.
Board members are mad at Chair Tina Hill for her "Queen of the Hive" approach and plan to nominate her own hand-picked candidate for appointment to the Mental Health Board.
The Board ought to make short work of that Agenda item. No discussion. Take a vote. Vote No. Why? Cathy Ferguson may be a good person, but she may not be the best person available. Scott Summers was an excellent candidate. Jeff Thorsen is an excellent candidate. Therapists belong in staff positions, not leadership.
Next, the public is made at Tina Hill for usurping the authority of the Public Health & Human Services Committee. Hill has refused to put the nominee of the PHHS on Tuesday night's agenda.
The Northwest Herald is mad at Tina Hill. See today's article "Board members in conflict" and today's editorial "Rocky start for Tina Hill".
It's shaping up to be a long four years, if that's how long Hill's rule is. Or is it only two years? Ersel Schuster got it right, when she told Kevin Craver, "Either we put our foot down now, or we're in deep trouble, because this is just the tip of the iceberg."

Where and when is this meeting?
Joe: McHenry County Board meeting, Tuesday, May 21, 2012, 7:00PM, McHenry County Administration Building, 667 Ware Road, Woodstock, 2nd floor.
Why is the Woodstock City Council meeting and the McHenry county board meeting on the same day at the same time???? I want to go to both...
Cainen, some wonder if it is intentional that some city council meetings are scheduled to conflict with others and with the County Board meeting. Did they conspire to do so, just to prevent citizens from attending more than one meeting of interest?
The County Board meets twice monthly. On the first Tuesday of the month, meetings are at 9:00AM.
On the third Tuesday, meetings are at 7:00PM (which conflict with Woodstock and other municipalities).
