A challenge...

Here's a challenge for you.

Ask yourself a few questions. I mean it. Really.

Why would the creator of the Dirty Keith website devote so much time, energy and creativity to his site?

Why is Zane Seipler running against Keith Nygren in the Republican Primary on February 2?

Ask yourself if you know the whole story? Is there fire where there is smoke?

When a fire starts in the corner of the basement in that stack of old newspapers and slowly begins to burn its way through the pile and spread slowly across the basement floor, you won't even wake up on the second floor. You might not even hear the basement smoke alarm.

Then you might get a whiff of smoke and wonder whether you should investigate, but you go back to sleep. A little while later, you smell smoke again and go downstairs. When you open the basement door, WHOOSH!

Now you know you've got a fire!

The issues that have worried me for eight years and the frequent reports that have been coming my way for four years are finally reaching the WHOOSH stage.

Shouldn't taxpayers be concerned about all the lawsuits to which the McHenry County Sheriff's Department is a party, either as Defendant or Plaintiff? Has there ever been a State of the Sheriff's Office address?

Do County residents/taxpayers/voters know about the "plans" to build a new Sheriff's Department? So soon after so much money was spend increasing the size of the present offices and jail?

Do you know about the favoritism being shown to deputies in terms of traffic tickets after at-fault accidents?

Do you know how many crimes have been committed by deputies but which have been handled "administratively" with internal discipline that never reached the public's eye? Try 1) falsification of jail training records and 2) battery of one deputy on a second deputy after a night of drinking at a popular Woodstock bar; 3) driving under the influence by deputies leaving that bar after a sergeant's birthday party.

These are the types of operations that must stop at the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. They are repugnant to citizens' values! This is what happens when residents close their eyes or think they are powerless to effect positive change.

Fine wine improves with age (experience). Other things don't.

So, I challenge you to read all these blogs. Frequently.

On February 2, vote for Zane Seipler, Republican candidate for Sheriff. Then you will see a really different type of race to the finish line on November 2.
