The following letter has been emailed to each member of the McHenry County Board:
Members of the County Board,
I am writing to request that you contact the Illinois State Police immediately and ask them to investigate Undersheriff Andy Zinke for a possible Class 3 Felony related to the Federal lawsuit filed Friday by Woodstock attorney Robert Hanlon on behalf of his client Sondra Matterness, who alleged that Zinke ran her license plate through LEADS for other than official police business.
Sheriff Nygren should place Zinke on administrative leave immediately and until this is resolved.
MCSO General Order 1.5.00/83a reads "No employee shall use LEADS, PIMS, CRIMES or any other computer inquiry within the Sheriff's Office to gain information for other than direct official police business."
There is an Illinois statute that would have been violated, if Zinke did so.
Please see Cal Skinner's article on Friday's McHenry County Blog and the copy of the filing by Attorney Hanlon.
Sincerely,
Gus Philpott

So lets suspend before we know if he actually did anything. Also lets assume if he did anything it was illegal. Don't process servers in this county have to meet certain requirements and be registered? Wouldn't a supervisor at county be an appropriate person to check to see if a process server was official?
The laws and General Orders don't apply to those people at the top, Gus.
Curious1, you've got to be in the in-crowd at MCSD. You do the "swerve and deflect" maneuver so well, except now we recognize it.
Yes, when you suspect a deputy of a felony, you suspend him. Except in McHenry County.
I agree Gus, when you suspect a deputy of a felony, you suspend him with pay. Zinke is more than just a suspect, papers have been filed
Gus, you do not suspend anyone based on an allegation or a lawsuit. That is so....unAmerican. You conduct an investigation and if that investigation indicates the subject is guilty THEN you suspend him or her. Not a second before. Whats the matter with you guys?
Have we sunk that low? We are becoming more and more like a commiust nation. Thanks to this type of thinking.
When a police officer is suspected of a felony, you suspend him while you investigate.
No you don't . Paid administrative leave fine but you do not suspend him. Ever hear of the term innocent until proven guilty? With a mindset like this you will do well in the Obzna administration.
Just to be clear, simply because " papers have been filed" that in and of itself means nothing, lawsuits are a dime a dozen, anyone can hire a lawyer and file a lawsuit. As a matter of fact, you don't even need a lawyer.
