Sheriff's Dept. abuses NIXLE again

The McHenry County Sheriff's Department has once again abused the NIXLE alert system by sending out a senseless and unnecessary announcement over the system that would be best used for emergencies only.

Today's announcement is the evaluation of the Sheriff's Department for the CALEA accreditation that it has spent so much time and money on. This is important to no one outside of the sheriff's department, and it certainly wasn't necessary to pester County residents with a NIXLE alert message.

OK, so this is the part where all the sheriff's friends pipe in with their 2-cents' worth, bucking for recognition, promotion, pay raises, etc. Guys, just put your remarks in the following space - between the parentheses.... ( ) Don't go outside the lines...

Maybe, when CALEA comes in, they will check all the tickets written by deputies to drivers with Hispanic surnames and inquire why their race was recorded as White or Caucasian.

Maybe, when CALEA comes in, they will nose around in the Woods' shooting injury at the range and ask why there is no report on file from Woods or from the ranking sergeant in the shoot room or from the ranking command officer (a lieutenant) at the range that day.

Maybe, when CALEA comes in, they will ask where the three laptops ($15,000 worth) are that were purchased for jail inmates to use.

Maybe CALEA will have a lot of its own questions.

Yet again you complain about the PROPER use of NIXLE.

Thought you were going to unsubscribe like you said in the past.

If you have something to whine about, call during the times advised in the NIXLE. Oh wait. If you actually did what you said you were going to do you would not have known about the CALEA message.

It is NOT an abuse of Nixle in anyone's mind but your own. This is really getting stupid, Gus. Rather, you are getting really stupid. It calls for community input as to the fitness of the sheriff's office. Why not get on your soapbox and complain to the CALEA folks, make your inane comments heard (and ignored) there as well.

I disagree; keep up the good work, Gus!

It would be interesting to learn what MCSD announced, when it signed up for NIXLE. Did it even tell the public? Did it tell the public that NIXLE would be used only for urgent messages?

So you admit that you don't know what they said when they launched their participation in the Nixle program. It goes without saying that it's quite clear from the Nixle website that this is a stated use of the system. Anyone with one eye and half a lick of common sense who can also read can see that. So, once again we appear to be debating whether or not Gus knows what he's talking about or if, in fact, he doesn't know squat and is merely attempting to dictate what he feels should be done.

Instead of rambling with no purpose other than spouting off before educating yourself why don't you do a little research on how the program was announced. By little I mean a 10 second Google search and you would have your answer. http://triblocal.com/mchenry/2010/03/04/sheriffs-office-now-a-part-of-nixle

Why don't you stop your NIXLE nonsense now as you said you were going to do in the past..

Hey, here's an idea for you guys.

Why not use your names, so your friends, neighbors, family, co-workers, bosses, subordinates can be proud of you?

Who WE are is immaterial to this argument. You're just deflecting as you typically do. We present facts, you present rumor and innuendo. Answer the questions, do your research before engaging in your slimy smear campaign. Where, pray tell, is your big expose about the bounty to be paid. You shoot off your mouth and then when called on it start in with the "it's coming, you'll see" or "you guys go find it if you want to know about it." Typical Gus b.s.

To answer the questions that have been posed to me as to why I continue to publish comments by Toa and others, it is because one day I'll publish their names, occupations and employers.

Then the public can think back over all their comments and make a decision about whether some influence should be brought to bear on their employers to more carefully monitor their actions at work.

Gus, If you want people to use their real names, you should be a little less threatening. I agree with you that these people like to hide behind their fake names. It's easy to call someone stupid and feel all strong and rightous that way, but I think it is weak and childish. It's par for the course on most blogs. But if you are going to get between people's jobs and employers because they disagree with you, your going to get more of the same.

Thanks for your comment, Mark. The only ones I'm interesting in "outing" are the ones who have been extremely aggressive, threatening, libelous; just generally mean and rude. I have not published all of their comments, just some of them. They know who they are.
