CPC - on the move

The Community Partnership Coalition (CPC), an initiative of Woodstock D-200 schools, met again last Thursday morning at Woodstock North High School.

Numerous community organizations are involved, along with D-200 staff. The starting time came and went, and I sensed that not just a few people didn't welcome my request at 9:32AM that the meeting commence. I'm one of the few who think that meetings ought to start on time. You don't wait for late-comers, and you don't waste the time of those who did arrive on time.

So I asked that the meeting start. Someone said the person in charge was out of the room. So? I had the agenda in front of me and suggested we start with introductions, as shown on the agenda. The person leading the meeting joined us, just as introductions were completed (she knew everybody, anyway), and the approval of the Minutes was called for.

The Coalition has created a program by which teens can report tips about underage smoking, drinking and drug use, including parties where these activities might take place. The program is almost ready to launch and will be described here in more detail, after it is officially announced.

I asked a question about how the organization that currently handles a tip line will be involved and pretty quickly got shot down. But now I know another group that knows the identities of members of that group. More to follow on that.

Watch for a posting here about a November 17th parents' program at Woodstock High School, feature Eddie Slowikowski (check him out at http://eddiespeak.com/). District 200 has gone "green", so a flier may not be sent home. So far, there is no announcement of the program on the Woodstock High School website...

For more information about the CPC, visit http://www.woodstockcpc.org/ Wait a day or two, though; the link is broken. D200 knows and has ordered a fix.
