Dorr Township - attend Nov. 16!

Be sure to read today's article about Dorr Township growth plans in the Northwest Herald.

And take a look at the photo of that closet. I mean, my closet might look like that, but the taxpayers aren't paying me to keep it orderly. Why hasn't someone created a little more order out that chaos long before now???

Why does a small operation with seven employees (how many are really there year-round and at the same time?) need a lunch room? If the employees don't want to leave the building and eat lunch in one of the local food outlets or go home, they can eat at their desks.

And a security window between the entrance and the front office area? What? To protect the citizens from being raped and pillaged by the Township employees? Now that's a security window I'd be willing to pay for. Somehow, I don't think some 90-year-old Dorr Township resident coming in for utility assistance is going to be much of a problem. And if she is? Call 9-1-1 and the Woodstock PD will send over one of its finest - pronto.

With all the empty space around town, Dorr Township doesn't need to spend $2.7 million to "modernize." I don't know how the Trustees drummed up the support to kill the $1,000,000 refund that a committee of residents recommended last April, but they did.

A kitchen at the Township garage?

Come to the Nov. 9 monthly meeting and see the glorious plans created at the direction of the Trustees. Plans for which there is no money. Concepts. How much did the Trustees blow on concept drawings? There is money only for remodeling. There is no money for expansion, so why did the Trustees spend a ton of bucks and turn Legat loose to whip up a bunch of fancy drawings for something that will never happen?

It's so that you will roll over for the other end of the deal. Can't afford steak and lobster. Just order a burger this time.

What is the purpose of Township government except for assistance? And aren't we spending over $1 to provide a dollar's worth of assistance? Oh, yes; 32 miles of roads.

When I asked how many vehicles the Township Highway Department had, after looking at the "concept" of the large heated garage building, the answer was, "I'll get back to you with that." Where were the vehicle models of existing inventory on the conceptual drawing? MIA, for sure.

It's not that hard for taxpayers to show up at Dorr Township meetings. It's hard to be more than 15 minutes away. So, show up on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 7:30PM. Do you even know where the Township office is? http://www.dorrtownship.com/ (I thought Township meetings were on the second Tuesday of the month, but the announcement of the November meeting on the Township website indicates November 16.)
