"Mix-it-up" is a day of national participation of schools in a program designed to reduce intolerance and misunderstanding between students of different races, cultures, beliefs, abilities.
On November 9 students in participating schools will go to lunch and find themselves instructed by staff to "mix it up"; i.e., they will sit at different lunch tables and not sit in their little cliques. Staff will facilitate students' inquiring about and getting better acquainted with students they don't know.
What about Woodstock and McHenry County schools? Will they participate? From the map on this website, it appears not.

View the map and zoom in to see the schools in McHenry County that will participate. It appears that two schools might be participating.
In the U.S., 2,674 schools have signed up to participate. In Cook County, 25 schools will participate. In McHenry County? Two (unless the one on the line between McHenry and Kane Counties is actually in Kane County).
It could have happened here. Make some noise now and get a commitment out of your school for the 2011 Mix-it-up Day.
