Woodstock Willie - time to go?

A flurry of Letters to the Editor in the Northwest Herald suggest that Woodstock's imitation of the Punxsutawney Phil and the continuing attempt to capitalize on the movie, Groundhog Day, may have run its course. Has it?

While a crowd shows up on February 2 at the Square, how else does the town benefit? Or does it? Do stores open early to accommodate early shoppers? Do restaurants experience more business on the days around February 2? Are the B&Bs booked solid?

Did Royal Victorian Manor open for tours? They were going to try, even though it wouldn't open for staying guests until early summer (May?).

Thoughts? Should Woodstock continue to promote Groundhog Day and Woodstock Willie? Good thing it didn't take off the mayor's right ear, when Mayor Sager leaned over to lean whether we'll have a long winter or an early spring.

Vote in this week's survey.

The letters author, Dave, sounds like a sour puss to me. No sense of humor. I think it is cute. And next year if Wdstk Willie take a bite out of the Mayor, I am sure he can have it treated as I bet he has healthcare insurance on our dime. Unlike many of us out here.

Maybe they ought to pull Sager out of the hole. Hell, who'd know the difference?
