How about a new P.D. website?

Hey, officers of the Woodstock Police Department (and officers/deputies of any other departments):

Would you like to have your own website? Something a little livelier than the "standard" website often created by less-than-creative municipal webfolks whose ingenuity and "out there" personalities are too often stifled by economics of municipal governments and decision-makers who say, "No deal" to spontaneity and ideas outside the box?

The Charleston (S.C.) Police Department had a great website under a previous administration but, when Chief Greenberg retired, the website was replaced.

What could a "fresh, alive, vibrant" website look like for the Woodstock Police Department?

For starters, the officers could write their own biographical sketches and give some reasons for being in police work. Current uniform and informal photos could make "real people" out of them and help form bonds with the community. They might spotlight their own volunteer efforts and hobbies. Maybe some might even want to include their family life.

We're a small town here. It shouldn't be an "us versus them" mentality, and I don't sense that from officers here. They are human beings (you are, aren't you? (well, except for Officer Brinx)) and maybe you'd like for folks in town to know you as such.

Some of the officers may live in Woodstock. It's too bad that all cannot live in Woodstock, if they wish to. Maybe if taxes came down, they could. McHenry County taxes can easily add $500-600/month to a house payment.

A wild-and-crazy P.D. website could be glitzed up with flashing red-and-blue lightbars, video of Brinx in action, a DUI traffic stop (video), example of a felony traffic stop; even our Community Service Officer doing his job to keep parking spaces on the Square open.

Ideas would probably come out of the woodwork. The City of Woodstock might go along with it and fund it. If it didn't, is there anything that might keep you from creating it yourselves? Web design services could probably be obtained at MCC or one of the Woodstock High Schools or among yourselves.

Any thoughts?

Once again, Gus, you prove that you just DO NOT understand law enforcement or the life of a cop.

Why would anyone in the job give criminals more informationabout themselves? A lot of officers don't even like criminals knowing they are married or have kids!

Imagine this...an officer arrests someone with a violent criminal history and the offender threatens to find the officer's wife and shoot her. With your lovely website idea, all the offender has to do is look on the website and see what she looks like! Easy enough to do with finding out who an officer's children are, too!

I'm beginning to think your gig as a cop in CO is a lie, because every time you comment or suggest something in the LE community, you show a true lack of understanding of what these men and women go through daily.

You obviously give no thought to the sacrifices of safety and normal life they and their families make.

Shame on you, Gus.
