Did you read the Page 1 article and headline in the Northwest Herald this week about Wednesday night's meeting in Rockford to consider a concealed carry law for Winnebago County?
I didn't, either.
The Winnebago County Board held a public meeting to discuss and consider allowing law-abiding residents to carry a concealed weapon. The Rockford Register Star covered the meeting. And guess who got a standing ovation from the crowd. Sheriff Dick Meyers!
If the McHenry County Board held such a public hearing, would Sheriff Keith Nygren stand before the crowd and say that he didn't have any problem with concealed carry? Would he also say that he thinks it is the right thing to do from a public safety standpoint?
