Northwest Herald shuns Prim coin-toss win

Republican candidate for McHenry County Sheriff, Bill Prim, won the coin toss this week for top billing on the ballot in the March 2014 Primary Election.

But you'd never know it from the Northwest Herald.

Why would it not report this? Did it fail to report it because the editorial staff or owners seem to favor the other candidate?

It's the coin toss that is the news. It's connected to a very important election contest that is only three months away.

ATTENTION VOTERS. It is very important that you pay attention to this March election. Traditionally, primary elections are under-voted. In this election it is absolutely essential that voters who want a change in the way business-as-usual is done at the Sheriff's Department turn out and vote for Bill Prim.

Start finding out about Bill, if you don't already know him. Visit www.primforsheriff.org

Start talking to your neighbors, family, co-workers, everyone you know. Ask them to get ready for a change and to vote for Bill Prim. And ask them to ask five other people to vote for him, and to ask those five to ask five more.

Use the Amway Principle of successful network marketing.

Plenty of reasons to vote for Bill Prim (and not to vote for the other guy) will be coming your way in the next three months. This is the first election for Sheriff that counts, not the one in November.

Whether you are independent, an Independent, a Green Party voter or a Democrat, pull a Republican ballot in March and vote for Bill Prim. In November you don't have to declare a party and you can vote anonymously for anyone you choose.

I've stopped reading the NWH because their local coverage is pretty abysmal, their editorial management (and their blatant embracing of left wing commentators - especially 1 in particular to extent of the right) and their belief that "a pretty new face" trumps the lack of real news content of importance to the community.

Your report of their editorial decisions in this case (which others might call "spiking" the news) is just another example.

The NWHerald used to be a pretty good county newspaper. Now, not so much.
